Dyslexia Reporting

IMSA West Dyslexia Reporting


In accordance with IC20-35.5-5.2, as created by SEA 217 (2018), and beginning with the 2019/2020 school year, students in kindergarten, grade 1, and grade 2 must be screened annually for risk factors of dyslexia using an Indiana Department of Education approved screening tool.  The universal screening tool shall include, as developmentally appropriate, the following:


  • Phonological and phonemic awareness
  • Sound symbol recognition
  • Alphabet knowledge
  • Decoding skills
  • Rapid naming skills
  • Encoding skills
